The Deer Run Sanitary Lift Station is situated on the outskirts of the Deer Run community, adjacent to Fish Creek Provincial Park and the Bow Valley Pathway system in Southwest Calgary. Originally built in 1976, the facility required significant infrastructure upgrades to extend its lifespan and ensure efficient, long-lasting service. The upgrades included modernizing the existing facility and adding a second building to accommodate a larger backup generator, enhance electrical systems, and comply with current worker safety regulations.

The upgrades and expansion of the existing facility underwent public consultation based on our design options (3) which had to address the sensitive architectural context of the surrounding community. The plan was to maintain the footprint of the existing building while improving it with a new cladding system.

The second building was constructed next to the existing one. A comprehensive code review and assessment were performed to evaluate existing building access, egress, fire rating requirements, building classification, and compliance with the National Building Code. We have prepared a complete set of working drawings and an architectural package for development and building permits, including 30%, 60%, and 90% drawings, as well as Tender and IFC (Issued for Construction) documents. Additionally, cost estimates for the architectural components have been prepared.
