WalterFedy provided architectural and engineering services for a new operations centre to replace an existing facility in Toronto. The 3-storey building accommodates office, warehouse, and support space, including 24,000 SF of underground parking. The design also includes reorganization of the existing rear operations yard. The new facility is designed to create a positive and attractive working environment for current and prospective employees, embrace current sustainability practices in line with Enbridge’s corporate goals, and better utilize the existing site while meeting Enbridge’s growth demands.
Development of the site plan includes reorganization of the existing rear operations yard to improve operational efficiency. The site is located within the Don River floodplain and the site grading, drainage, and stormwater management design takes into consideration the restrictions and challenges associated with periodic inundation and maintenance of floodplain storage. Permitting and approvals for works associated with the site involved coordination with the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority.
The new facility is designed to be LEED Gold certified and align with Tier 1 of the Toronto Green Standard. As part of our scope of work, our team is providing LEED consulting.
