WalterFedy provided architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical consulting services for the transformation of an existing warm shell space into a cutting-edge, 20,000-square-foot Quality Laboratory dedicated to food and agricultural product testing. Designed to meet stringent industry standards, the facility features multiple specialized laboratory suites that ensure the unidirectional flow of samples from receipt to final analysis, optimizing both efficiency and safety.
The project includes advanced infrastructure such as ISO Class 7 cleanrooms, Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) compliance, dedicated wash-up and sterilization areas, and a fully equipped wet-chemistry laboratory with a complete suite of analytical equipment. Given that the client had not yet developed their own facility standards, our design adhered to the industry best practices outlined in the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE) guidelines for Quality Laboratory Facilities.
The project team successfully navigated the approval process, ensuring compliance with all local standards. The facility was designed within an ambitious four-month timeline and delivered exceptional value for money by balancing high-performance laboratory infrastructure with budgetary constraints. Furthermore, this project set a benchmark for future client facilities, establishing repeatable and scalable design standards to support ongoing expansion efforts.
