WalterFedy, in collaboration with EllisDon/PCL Joint Venture, is providing civil engineering support for the development of the new Mississauga Hospital for Trillium Health Partners. This transformative healthcare project will replace the existing hospital with a cutting-edge, 22-storey facility that will nearly triple its size to approximately 2.8 million SF. The expanded hospital will accommodate over 950 beds and 23 operating rooms, significantly increasing the region’s healthcare capacity and improving access to critical medical services.

Strategically located at the intersection of the Queensway West and Hurontario Street in Mississauga, the hospital is situated in a dense urban environment that presents unique design and construction challenges. The project requires close coordination with multiple stakeholders, including the City of Mississauga, the Region of Peel, and the Credit Valley Conservation Authority, to address servicing constraints, optimize site access, and navigate complex floodplain permitting and regulatory requirements.

A major focus of the project is ensuring uninterrupted healthcare services throughout construction. With the existing hospital remaining fully operational until the new facility is complete, the project team has developed a detailed site servicing and infrastructure phasing and transition strategy to manage construction sequencing, maintain critical infrastructure, and minimize disruptions to patients, staff, and emergency services.
Once complete, the new Mississauga Hospital will serve as a cornerstone of the region’s healthcare system, providing state-of-the-art medical care in a modern, efficient, and patient-centered environment. The project represents a significant investment in the future of healthcare for Mississauga and the surrounding communities, with construction expected to extend through 2032.
