WalterFedy was retained to convert the existing Patrick J. Doherty Arena into a community centre. The new centre is a LEED Gold facility that houses a full-size gymnasium, community rooms, daycare centre, full-service kitchen with bar area, and administrative offices. The site also offers an outdoor play area and splash pad.

The team preserved the character and many components from the original structure. During reconstruction, over 90 percent of unwanted building material was diverted from the landfill. The new centre uses 40 percent less water in daily operations and over 75 percent of the centre receives its daylight from windows.
