DESIGN ELEMENTS

In 2009, construction was completed on a $48 million renovation of the Oshawa Car Body Assembly Plant and the Chassis Plant, preparing these facilities to build the new GRWD car platform. WalterFedy provided comprehensive architectural, engineering, commissioning, and cost-estimating services for an extensive scope of work. This included extensive structural reinforcements of the existing building; steel design for the process task steel; complete mechanical and electrical design for plant infrastructure, group rooms, and plant offices; a track to test for squeaks and rattles; and water-test booth; modifications to, and approvals for, the indoor fuel-fill systems and vehicle-exhaust extraction equipment.
