Since 2002, WalterFedy has provided architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical design services to General Motors of Canada Ltd. (GM) for numerous infrastructure changes ranging in size and complexity. Our work has included expansions and renovations at the Oshawa complex’s Truck and Car Body Assembly Plant, Car Final Assembly Plant, Paint Shop, Truck Stamping Plant, Canadian Regional Engineering Centre, and Canadian Headquarters, as well as projects at the Kapuskasing Cold Weather Development Centre, Woodstock PDC, and the CAMI Assembly Plant in Ingersoll.

In 2009, construction was completed on a $48 million renovation of the Oshawa Car Body Assembly Plant and the Chassis Plant, preparing these facilities to build the new GRWD car platform. WalterFedy provided comprehensive architectural, engineering, commissioning, and cost-estimating services for an extensive scope of work. This included extensive structural reinforcements of the existing building; steel design for the process task steel; complete mechanical and electrical design for plant infrastructure, group rooms, and plant offices; a track to test for squeaks and rattles; and water-test booth; modifications to, and approvals for, the indoor fuel-fill systems and vehicle-exhaust extraction equipment. |
