MECHANICAL ENGINEERING ASSISTANT CO-OP

Role At a Glance

The Mechanical Engineering Assistant will work under the supervision of the Intermediate and Senior Engineers within the mechanical practice. Typical mechanical department projects range from the complete mechanical design of an office building to a renovation of a school heating plant, or the preparation of a report including recommendations regarding a specialized mechanical system at a hospital. This position will be focused on industrial and pharmaceutical projects. The position offers opportunities to involve the engineering assistant in all aspects of a project.

What You Will Do

• Heating and cooling load calculations
• Piping and ductwork calculations and layouts
• Selection of air handling units, pumps, boilers, and refrigeration equipment
• Drafting of mechanical systems using AutoCAD and Revit
• Drawings, specification documents, and reports
• Perform site visits to survey existing conditions and review new installations

What You Bring to the Table

• Familiarity with building codes and the construction industry
• Knowledge and experience with Autodesk Revit would be an asset
• Familiarity with standard office computer software packages and AutoCAD is essential
• Knowledge in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics would ease the learning process
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
