Role Overview

Working within the Finance Department in our Kitchener office, this position will be responsible for all payroll related functions. This includes timely and accurate processing of payroll for the company employees as well as journal entry preparation, reconciliations, and various other accounting functions.

What You Will Do
  • Process bi-weekly Canadian payroll for 150+ hourly and salaried employees using Ceridian Dayforce
  • Maintain payroll system and payroll related data for new employees, adjustments for current employees and terminations, including ROEs
  • Prepare journal entries and various reports on a pay period basis
  • Ensure accuracy of statutory remittances
  • Detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies
  • Compile and produce year-end tax forms and other required year-end forms such as T4s
  • Respond to Canadian Provincial and Federal organizations regarding payroll and employment insurance matters
  • Process bi-weekly and monthly payments and reconciliations
  • Respond to employee, management and supplier inquiries
  • Prepare payroll reports for Finance and Human Resources department as needed
  • Other administrative duties as required
  • Supporting period-end and year-end closing processes and assisting with financial reporting.
  • Proactively identifying areas for improvement and assisting with the re-engineering of internal processes to improve functionality and efficiency.
  • Contributing to special project teams, as required.
  • Providing back-up assistance to Accounts Payable, as required.
  • Communicating in a professional and courteous manner with all customers, both internal and external.
     
What We Need
  • Minimum of 8 years of payroll experience required
  • PCP or CPM certification is mandatory
  • Previous experience on Ceridian Dayforce would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of legislation and governance of payroll and employment standards
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment

Working Conditions and Safety

Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., and some overtime hours may be required from time to time. In this role, you will work within the company safety policies and procedures, and adhere to any applicable federal or provincial legislation.
