This role will provide you with an opportunity to develop as a Junior Electrical Technologist while also allowing you to work towards developing a unique skill set as an expert in integrated design.


Role Overview

You will focus on producing high-quality construction documents in CAD and Revit for a broad range of commercial, and institutional projects as part of a fully integrated design team.  This role can lead to opportunities in quality management, shop drawing review, site inspection, and project management for candidates with demonstrated abilities and desire. 

You will have the opportunity to work on exciting local projects. Examples of projects that we are proud to have in our portfolio include the Conestoga College Cambridge Campus, Waterloo Region Museum and the Kitchener Public Library expansion.

What You Will Do
  • Assist with the preparation of construction documents and specifications under the direction of electrical engineers and senior drafting personnel.
  • Prepare accurate CAD drawings from markups and instructions provided by architects, engineers, designers, and senior drafting personnel.
  • Apply office CAD standards to drafting assignments (layers, line weights)
  • Ensure outputs meet the required quality expectations and agreed deadlines
  • Coordinate work with other disciplines and team members, including in-house integrated teams and external consultants.
  • Ensure work product meets high-quality standards, CAD/BIM standards, and deadlines.
  • Take responsibility for your work – accuracy, quality, deadlines, and communication.
What We Need
  • Electrical Engineering Technology diploma or certificate (or similar); co-op work experience is considered an asset.
  • Excellent working knowledge of electrical drafting with AutoCAD; experience with Revit MEP is considered an asset.
  • Good understanding of building construction and basic electrical building systems.
  • Excellent communication skills; both verbal and written.

Working Conditions and Safety

Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., and some overtime hours may be required from time to time. The ability to travel away from the office is required to assist and attend on-site project meetings.
