Role Overview

You will focus on leading the mechanical design portion of projects of various size and scope on a fully integrated team. Your role will include developing scopes of work, managing engineering budgets and schedules, and leading the technical direction of the mechanical design. It will involve coordinating with design team members, corresponding directly with clients and suppliers, performing engineering calculations and preparing and reviewing technical reports. Depending on your experiences and background, this role may focus on industrial projects.

What You Will Do
  • Complete design and calculations of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and controls for large and mid-sized projects.
  • Coordinate and communicate with clients on the scope and development of the project.
  • Coordinate with equipment suppliers, contractors, and other design disciplines.
  • Perform site surveys and site assessments, field reviews and address coordination questions throughout construction.
  • Provide detailed mechanical capital cost estimates.
  • Coordinate the preparation of drawing documentation and prepare specifications to supplement drawings in project bid packages.
  • Complete technical analysis and preparation of corresponding reports.
  • Depending on your strengths and interests, this role may include people leadership and/or business development opportunities.


What We Need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a focus on Mechanical Engineering.
  • 7+ years of experience in designing mechanical systems for projects related to healthcare, institutional, commercial and/or industrial sector.
  • Experience in the healthcare sector would be a strong asset.
  • Licensed member of PEO (P.Eng) or eligible for licensure.
  • Working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, ASHRAE, NFPA, and other relevant codes.
  • Fluency in Mandarin (speaking and writing) is considered an asset.

Working Conditions and Safety

Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm and some overtime hours may be required from time to time. The ability to travel away from the office is required to assist and attend on-site project meetings.
