Human Resources Assistant (6 month contract)

This role will provide you with an opportunity to develop as a Human Resources Assistant while also allowing you to work towards developing a unique skill set as an expert in integrated design.

Role Overview

This position will include a variety of responsibility within the HR department including recruitment, employee relations, training and assistance with performance management, but will also have a strong focus on preparing for a new HCM system for our organization.  We are looking for an individual who is interested in working as a team player and who will be a strong contributor to the HR team.

What You Will Do

  • Assist the lead Project Managers in the implementation of a new HCM system to be implemented Spring 2019.
  • Collaborate with the HR, Finance and IT teams to resolve minor issues involving the implementation
  • Assist with ensuring data integrity, ensuring standards and procedures are followed to protect and improve integrity
  • Make connections and understand process around between the business requirements and the functional requirements of the system.
  • Participate in regular research and compliance initiatives regarding Human Resources issues
  • Assist with the further development of policies and procedures as required, and help to ensure compliance with policies, procedures and applicable legislation
  • Supports Employee Engagement initiatives including planning of events
  • Assisting with the onboarding process by preparing new employee packages and scheduling onboarding sessions
  • Active participation in recruitment process including job postings, screening resumes, coordinating interviews and assisting with offer process
  • Assist with the maintenance of accurate and comprehensive personnel files
  • Assisting with administration in the Human Resources department

What We Need

  • Completion of university degree or college diploma in Human Resources Management is considered an asset
  • Previous experience working in a HR environment, with an understanding of administrative procedures
  • Previous experience working with a Human Capital Management system; participation in HCM implementation is considered an asset
  • Ability to compile and verify data from multiple sources
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Strong work ethic and a positive attitude
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft office programs, including Word and Excel
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment with multiple priorities
  • Comfortable with repetitive and high attention to detail tasks
  • A real team player with the desire and ability to do whatever it takes to get the job done
  • Strong understanding of importance of confidentiality
  • Excellent customer service approach to meet the needs of the business units, staff, and individuals external to WalterFedy.
  • Aligns with the values of WalterFedy

Working Conditions and Safety

Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., and some overtime hours may be required from time to time. Ability to travel away from the office is required to assist and attend on-site project meetings.

In this role, you will work within the company safety policies and procedures, and adhere to any applicable federal or provincial legislation.
