Role At A Glance

We are looking for a Proposal Team Manager who is searching for their next professional challenge. By combining your stellar writing, communication, coaching, and project management skills with your ability to work collaboratively, you will guide team members to grow our brands, WalterFedy, BSN and AEC. 

The Proposal Team Manager will manage the activities of the team of 3 specialists and participate in leading major pursuit process from start to finish, including leading start-up meetings, developing winning pursuit strategies with the technical team, and editing and designing a superb final product for submission. However, with Big Picture Focus, you will also work with the Director of Marketing & Business Development, the BD Campaign, and MarCom Specialists to define initiatives to enhance the efficiency and QA of the proposal team aligned with the brand vision. Ideally, the MarCom, Campaign and Proposal team collaborate and support one another in daily activities to ensure we create a unified, high-performance team that fluidly supports the initiatives that grow the brand. With a 5-year vision that includes growth and acquisition across Canada, there’s lots of room to grow on this team!

What You Will Do

  • You’ll be fully immersed in managing all aspects of the proposal process including reporting, opportunity intake and proposal output, Go/No-Go process, administrative and qualitative initiatives to improve the efficiency and success of the process and team members
  • Manage the activities of 1 senior and 2 proposal specialists as well as a BD Administrative Coordinator who leads the bid search process and internal opportunity vetting with technical leads
  • Coach, mentor, guide and train the proposal staff; conduct performance reviews and support career development plans; nurture the team’s creative and curious pursuits when time and workload allows
  • Collaborate with Director MBD and the MarCom and Campaign specialists on broad BD/MarCom team activities and growth plans
  • When required, you will lead the proposal process including reviewing request for proposal (RFPs) documents, leading strategy meetings, and working closely with internal experts to prepare, write and edit proposal responses including methodology, approach and schedules
  • Prepare proposals that will pique the reader’s interest through compelling content complemented by your development of sector specific image selection and graphic design
  • Review final proposal documents for compliance and submit them to clients on deadline
  • Scan public tendering sites for RFPs and related opportunities aligned with the firm’s portfolio for the technical team to review
  • Provide quality assurance checks for proposals and marketing materials created by team members
  • Create presentations to support our pursuit team during the project interview process
  • Collaborate with Campaign and MarCom specialists to provide strategy and support tools to the sales team for strategic pursuits
  • Maintain and update project descriptions, corporate/department profiles, CVs and bios for technical staff, and our photography database
  • Work with the MarCom team to support content creation for web, social media and the Intranet as needed

 

What You Bring to the Table

  • 7-10+ years of proposal management experience within the architectural and engineering industries
  • 3+ years of Team (People) Management experience 
  • Post-secondary education in rhetoric, communications, journalism, marketing, engineering, architecture, or another related field
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite is considered a strong asset
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, time management, and interpersonal skills
  • Proven project management skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment where meeting deadlines is critical
